roLLS IN. gimme all ur thoughts on 'tyrion is secretly a targaryen!1111!' posts. strIKES A POSE.

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT.

ok. so. i —- TYPICALLY —- don’t put a whole lot of investment into fan theories simply bc WE ARE DEALING WITH GEORGE RR MARTIN, the most evil, incredible mastermind of our time. anything we theorize is … well … probably the exact OPPOSITE of the truth.

HOWEVER, i have put quite a lot of thought into two of the most popular theories: one being r+l = j, the other being tyrion targaryen.

and oh boy, do i have a lot to say. you’ve come to the right place, sweet pea.

i have a firm, FIRM belief that joanna never had an affair with aerys before or after her marriage to tywin ;  partly because i find it hard to believe that joanna ( as i perceive her, anyways ) would have fallen for someone as cruel as aerys, and partly because i do not see tywin lannister as the kind of man to take aerys targaryen’s sloppy seconds. grand maester pycelle also denies that they had any kind of relationship, and while ser barristan selmy tells daenerys that her father lusted after another woman, he, too, writes it off as mere gossip.

but, wait, shelbi, wait !!  couldn’t aerys have raped joanna on her wedding night ?  a-ha !  yes, he very well could have ( and, honestly, probably DID ). but even if he HAD raped and impregnated her, tyrion was not the first born lannister child. ( there are some that say cersei and jaime, on the other hand, are secret targaryens, but i find this to be flat-out ABSURD. )

on top of that, aerys treated joanna like SHIT after marrying tywin. she was not well-liked by rhaella ( who knew about aerys’ infidelities but was rather upset about his lust for joanna ), and very seldom visited king’s landing from that point on. meaning that aerys’ attitude + rhaella’s jealous watch + joanna ( most likely ) being seriously frightened to return to the capital = very unlikely for this lioness to conceive a dragon. not to mention that tywin was probably very, VERY protective over her by this point, and seldom dared let her out of his sight while she was in king’s landing.

( also, i find this theory to be a VERY cheap trick. although i’m sure grrm could pull it off somehow, it just … UGH, i don’t know. i just don’t see this as something he would try and play out. )

IN SHORT: no, i do not think that tyrion is a targaryen. but i do see where the theory comes from !  it’s very interesting to think about.
